2026 Prayer & Fasting Daily Focus

Day 3 (January 19, 2026) — Remembering Who God Is
Focus: Fixing the heart begins with remembering God’s faithfulness.
Read: Psalm 77:11-12, NIV

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

This passage illustrates how remembering God’s past acts of faithfulness can anchor our hearts, as we meditate on these acts, and help us trust in His continued presence and guidance. It is a reminder that by reflecting on how God has worked in history and in our own lives, our hearts can be steadfast in faith.

Day 4 (January 20, 2026) — A Unified Heart
Focus: God desires hearts that are not divided.
Read Psalm 86:11: “Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”

An undivided heart is not a perfect heart. It is a surrendered one. It is the heart that admits, “Lord, I want You, but I am easily distracted. I desire You, but I am often divided between Your will and my own.” And instead of pretending strength, David asks God to do what only God can do — make the heart whole again.

Ask yourself: What competes most for my affection?

Day 5 (January 21, 2026) — Fixing the Heart Is a Daily Choice
Focus: Devotion must be renewed daily.

Fixing the heart is not a one-time decision—it is a posture renewed every day.

Renew daily through:

  1. Prayer: Engage in regular prayer, communicating your thoughts, gratitude, and requests to God. As Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
  2. Reading the Word: Spend time each day reading and reflecting on God’s word. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
  3. Worship: Devote time to worship, through singing, meditating on God’s attributes, or simply thanking Him for His goodness. Colossians 3:16 encourages this with, “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly…through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
  4. Meditation: Take moments to meditate on God’s teachings and how they apply to your life, as Joshua 1:8 suggests: “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.”
  5. Service: Live out your faith through acts of service and love towards others. Galatians 5:13 reminds us, “Serve one another humbly in love.”
  6. Gratitude: Cultivate a spirit of gratitude, recognizing God’s blessings in your life.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 advises, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

These practices do not have to be done all at once. Each of them, exercised individually, will draw you closer to God and renew your spirit each day.

Day 6 (January 22, 2026) — God Looks at the Heart
Focus: God values inward devotion over outward performance.

In our first Chapter of focus, 1 Chronicles 29:18, offerings were being given, but David prayed for the heart behind them.

18 “O LORDGod of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the intent of the thoughts of the heart of Your people, and fix their heart toward You.

God receives what flows from a sincere heart.

Psalm 24:3-4 speaks to the importance of a pure heart in our worship and service to God: “Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.”

We are to approach God with both clean hands and a pure heart, free from ulterior motives or impurities. Worship from a pure heart signifies a life dedicated to God’s principles, and reflecting honesty, humility, and devotion.

Further, Jesus reinforces this in the Beatitudes, teaching, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matthew 5:8). A pure heart enables us to truly connect with God, to see and understand His will and presence in our lives.

Examine your motives in your areas of service to the Lord.

Day 7 (January 23, 2026)— A Willing Heart
Focus: Willingness matters more than capacity.

The people gave willingly, and David prayed that this willingness would remain.

Willingness is important to God. Throughout the Bible, God emphasizes the significance of a willing heart and spirit in our relationship with Him.

In Isaiah 1:19, it is written, “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land.” This scripture highlights that God desires us to be willing and obedient to follow Him and His commandments.

God cherishes a willing heart when it comes to acts of service and worship. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, we read, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Here, willingness is connected to how we give and serve, suggesting that God values our intentions and the posture of our hearts.

Ultimately, willingness signifies:
1. A readiness to align ourselves with God’s will,
2. An open and responsive spirit,
3. An eagerness to grow in our faith and relationship with Him.

Cultivating a willing heart toward God is a journey of growth and transformation, that involves the following key practices:

1. Prayer and Communication with God: Spend time in prayer, opening your heart to God. As David prayed in Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Seek God’s help in transforming your heart and aligning it with His will.

2. Study and Meditation on Scripture: Immerse yourself in God’s Word, allowing it to shape your thoughts and desires. As Romans 12:2 encourages, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Through Scripture, we learn God’s ways and find inspiration to walk willingly in them.

3. Obedience and Trust: Be willing to step out in faith and obey God’s directions, trusting in His wisdom and love. Proverbs 3:5-6 teaches, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

4. Community and Fellowship: Surround yourself with fellow believers who encourage and support your spiritual growth. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together…but encouraging one another.”

5. Service and Giving: Engage in acts of service with a joyful heart, as an expression of your love for God and others. As noted in 2 Corinthians 9:7, God values a cheerful giver, so let service flow from a place of willingness and joy.

As you practice these disciplines, may God cultivate in you a heart that is eager to follow Him, filled with love, obedience, and a deep willingness to fulfill His purpose for your life.

Show your willingness by saying YES to something God has been prompting you to do.

Day 8 (January 24, 2026) — Keeping the Heart Fixed
Focus: What God establishes must be guarded.

David prays that God would keep the heart fixed. Spiritual focus requires protection.

Guarding your heart is an important theme in the Bible, emphasizing the importance of protecting our inner life and values. Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) instructs us, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” This scripture highlights that our heart is the wellspring of life, influencing our thoughts, actions, and decisions. By guarding our heart, we ensure that our lives align with God’s wisdom and love.

Moreover, Philippians 4:7 offers comfort by stating, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This verse reassures us that entrusting ourselves to God’s peace will protect us, filling us with His presence and guidance. Remembering these scriptures helps us to intentionally focus on maintaining purity, love, and righteousness within our hearts.

Identify one habit you need to limit to protect your devotion.

Day 9 (January 25, 2026) – A Heart Anchored in Worship
Focus: Worship realigns the heart toward God.

Worship plays a vital role in realigning our hearts toward God. It provides a moment when we can PAUSE and REFOCUS on Him. Worship is an opportunity to shift our attention from worldly distractions to God’s presence, holiness, and sovereignty.

Through worship, we are reminded of God’s attributes—like His love, grace, power, and faithfulness—thinking on these characteristics of God help to recenter our thoughts and emotions. Isaiah 26:3 provides comfort: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on you, because they trust in you.” Worship helps cultivate trust and steadfastness by focusing our minds on God’s character and promises.

Worship is not only about singing or attending worship services but it encompasses our entire life. Romans 12:1 encourages us: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

Spend intentional time in worship today—through music, Scripture, or spoken praise to God.

Day 10 (January 26, 2026) – Preparing the Heart for Obedience
Focus:
A prepared heart responds quickly to God.

When the heart is prepared, obedience becomes a response, not a struggle.

Read the following Scriptures in the NIV Translation which reflect
our response of love resulting in obedience and reverence toward God.

1. Deuteronomy 11:1 – “Love the Lord your God and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws and his commands always.” This verse emphasizes the connection between love and obedience, urging us to follow God’s commands as a reflection of our love for Him.

2. John 14:15 – “If you love me, keep my commands.” Here, Jesus makes it clear that our love for Him should naturally lead to obedience.

3. 1 Samuel 15:22 – “But Samuel replied: ‘Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.'” In this passage, obedience is shown to be valued even more than religious rituals.

4. James 1:22 – “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” This encourages us to be doers of the word, putting our faith into action through obedience.

5. Philippians 2:12-13 – “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” This passage speaks to the ongoing nature of obedience as part of our spiritual journey.

Throughout the Bible, obedience is presented not as mere duty, but as a loving response to the grace and love that God first showed us.

Today, obey God promptly in something you’ve delayed.

Day 11 (January 27, 202) – Generational Hearts
Focus:
A fixed heart impacts future generations.

David prays not just for himself but for the people. Our devotion affects others.

The Bible emphasizes the importance of teaching future generations to be devoted to God.

1. Deuteronomy 6:6-7: “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road.

2. Proverbs 22:6: “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”

3. Psalm 78:4-7: “We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.”

4. Ephesians 6:4: “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”

Church communities play a crucial role in supporting families as they work to instill faith in the next generation.

The book of Hebrews points to shared worship and fellowship as one of the ways to impart and inspire faith. Regular gatherings for worship and fellowship is not just for adults, but children also. Hebrews 10:24-25, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.”

Church communities can help plant seeds of faith that can grow and guide the next generation throughout their lives.

Pray for someone younger in the faith that they will come to know the Lord and be devoted to Him. In Jesus name. Amen.

Day 12 (January 28, 2026) — When the Heart Wanders
Focus:
God restores hearts that drift.

A fixed heart does not mean a flawless one. God gently calls wandering hearts back.

The Bible provides abundant assurance of God’s desire for His children to return to Him, no matter how far they have drifted. Here are some Scriptures that convey God’s longing for your return and His willingness to welcome you back with open arms:

1. Luke 15:20-24 – This passage tells the parable of the Prodigal Son, illustrating God’s joy and readiness to forgive when we turn back to Him. It says, “So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”

2. Jeremiah 3:22 – “Return, faithless people; I will cure you of backsliding.” This verse emphasizes God’s willingness to heal and restore those who return to Him.

3. Hosea 14:1-2 – “Return, Israel, to the Lord your God. Your sins have been your downfall! Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him: ‘Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.'”

4. 1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

5. Psalm 51:10-12 – King David’s prayer for restoration offers hope: “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Confess areas of drift and receive God’s grace.

Day 13 — A Heart Set Apart
Focus:
Fixing the heart leads to consecration. A heart fixed on God becomes set apart for His purposes.

Setting our hearts apart to be fixed toward God involves a sincere commitment to seeking Him and aligning our lives with His will. As it says in Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV), “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Here are a few ways to help direct our hearts toward God. Though these practices have been mentioned before, here they are again, as a reminder; only as we utilize them will our hearts be fixed and consecrated to God.

1. Prayer: Engage in regular and earnest prayer. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) encourages us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

2. Scripture: Immerse yourself in the Word. Psalm 119:11 (NIV) says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

3. Worship: Approach God with praise and gratitude. Psalm 95:1-2 (NIV) reminds us, “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

Dedicate a specific area of your life fully to God.

Day 14 — A Heart Forever Fixed
Focus:
A lifelong prayer of devotion.

David’s prayer is not momentary—it is eternal. A fixed heart is sustained by God Himself.

The Scriptures are your primary resource for assurance that God will sustain those who seek to keep their hearts fixed on Him.

1. Psalm 55:22 – “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” This verse reassures you that God is your support and foundation, holding you steady amidst life’s challenges.

2. Isaiah 46:4 – “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” God promises His constant presence and care throughout your life.

3. Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Paul reminds us here that God’s strength empowers us to remain steadfast in our journey of faith.

4. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 – “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” This assurance emphasizes God’s faithfulness and His protective presence.

5. Psalm 37:23-24 – “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” This passage highlights God’s guidance and support, ensuring you remain steady.

These Scriptures will serve as a source of strength and encouragement, reminding you that God is actively involved in your life, sustaining your fixed heart with His unfailing love and power.

Write out your own prayer of heart commitment to God.
